Professional Experience

Associate Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations, Lynchburg College, 2008-present

  • Promoted to manage research, development operations staff in early 2009
    • Added leadership of full fundraising staff, including three additional directors
    • Lead staff responsible for using Raiser's Edge for all aspects of solicitation cycle, including:
      • Wealth screening
      • Major gift cultivation and solicitation process, which I led creation of, and have applied effectively within two weeks of implementation
      • Major Gift Officer assessment process
    • Serve on College President's senior leadership team, with collaborative weekly, in-depth assessment meetings
    • Maintain management of fundraising and alumni programs staff
  • Promoted to manage externally-focused fundraising staff in late summer 2008
    • Responsible for all aspects of College fundraising, and related staff, in addition to duties listed below for AVP Alumni Relations
    • Created performance benchmarks and stabilized goal-setting process

Associate Vice President for Alumni Relations, Lynchburg College, Lynchburg, Virginia.  2005-2008

  • Strategic and tactical management of programs for 22,000-member Association
  • Manage Board of Directors
  • Ensure goals sync with Best Practices/ Blue Ribbon Panel Recommendations
  • Manage staff of professionals and students to conduct the programming, event management, and communications work for the Office of Alumni Programs
  • Direct all marketing, partnerships, and major programs of the Association
  • Key Accomplishments:
    • Created and implemented comprehensive marketing plan that restructured alumni operations
    • Restructured staff duties
    • Doubled Homecoming registrations since 2005
    • Launched Alumni Online Community, netting over 2,600 users in less than one year.  Cited by service provider as strongest client launch ever.  Added Facebook and LinkedIn presence that serves nearly 2,000 alumni.
    • Incorporated new systems in Association management including:
      • Led full Association bylaws revision
      • Traffic management for all outbound communication
      • Multi-channel social networking capacity
      • Implemented volunteer-driven programming
      • Built data-driven approach to decision-making and budget allocations
      • Online and live presentations with consistent marks as "Gold Star Speaker" for the international Council for the Advancement and Support for Education (CASE)
      • Created Speed Networking events to bring volunteer leaders into high-impact contact with students.  Program being adopted by College's Trustee Board due to success
      • Created Leadership Guides to help volunteers plan and execute Reunions and Club events
    • Reorganized Alumni Board to increase involvement, leadership opportunities, and to reflect more corporate structure
    • Volunteer leadership, program volume and participation levels have jumped since 2006
    • Created strong alliance with each of past four senior class leadership groups
    • Serve as freshman academic advisor; member of College Marketing Committee, advisor to four National Panhellenic Council organizations; and member of the College Student Success (Retention) and Employee Grievance committees

  • Managed 70 Alumni Association accounts, offering and marketing insurance and financial services-related member benefits
  • Created and conducted multimedia sales presentations.  Led team in product placements and new client acquisitions

  • Grew $2.5 million alumni marketing and retail operation
  • Managed affinity programs, magazine advertising sales, retail operation, facility rental and sponsorship programs
  • Responsible for Center rental and retail operation and facility maintenance
